Machine Control Software
FPGA – Field Programmable Gate Array
The Scantech range of machines are controlled by an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) program. The prime function is to monitor and control all time critical events within the machine environment. The program cycles at 40MHZ, and is completely independent of the computer operating system. This would mean that if the operating system crashed then the machine control program in FPGA would continue to control the machine.

All Inspection software for our machines is written in house using a commercially available graphical programming environment. This gives us the flexibility to customize inspection routines and operator interfaces for our customers. We are continually developing inspection routines for new applications. Various inspection algorithms are used including binary, gradient, gauging and measurement functions.

Inspection Technology
Latest software techniques incorporating algarithms and filtering methods enable the detection of glass defects and loose glass particles inside an inspected container. The combination of lighting techniques, diffusion and software inspection routines allow us to ignore glass markings (i.e stipling and embossing) whilst maintaining inspection integrity. We have the ability to detect damaged and defective finish rings on containers where the finish ring is intact (no glass missing).
